Reiske's Island View Resort feels like stepping into another world. It has the cozy, slightly surreal charm of Twin Peaks, but without the sinister undercurrents. Instead, you're met with fresh lake air, bald eagles soaring overhead, and warm, genuine Wisconsin hospitality. A big part of that hospitality comes from the owner, Sue, who is so gracious and welcoming. She does a wonderful job running the resort and makes you feel cared for from the moment you arrive. The landscape itself feels almost otherworldly. When the fog drifts across the water, the whole scene transforms into something cinematic, like you've wandered into a dream. Every stay has been memorable for me, which is why I keep returning (not just to visit my dad!). What makes this place truly special is how it balances comfort with the raw beauty of nature. The cabins are welcoming, the setting is peaceful, and there's a sense that time slows down here. It's also a reminder that we share this space with wildlife, sometimes in awe-inspiring ways (those eagles!) and sometimes in ways that show how much more respectfully humans could engage with nature. Sadly, I've seen evidence of hunting gone wrong and it made me wish people would treat these animals with the care they deserve. If you're looking for somewhere to unplug, sink into a quiet beauty, and experience a slice of northern magic, this is it. I can't wait to be back this month.

Been coming here for over 20 years. Sue has continued the same great level of service she and her late husband have put into their resort for years. Consistency is what brings us back to this particular resort. Lake Nelson has great fishing. I rely on the ability to catch enough to have at least one fish fry each year...and Lake Nelson delivers just that. Awesome views of the lake and this gem in the Northwoods keep bringing me and my dad back for annual father/son fishing trips. If you are looking for a housekeeping cabin with good fishing (especially panfish) you need to plan to stay here for memories you will not forget.

My fam has been going here for years. The owner Sue is a great host Perfect relaxing nature get away spot.. no frills. Best priced resort on the lake..sue is awesome! Fully functional cabin. New grills to bbq...cant say enough good things.

When in Hayward, Wisconsin, you need to visit Susie at Rieske's Resort on Nelson Lake! Everyone does. Happy hour starts at 4:00 and so much fun. Make it a point tho, only open til 7:00. Great music and great people! God Bless the USA.

Very clean cabins Friendly and helpful service Wonderful lake views

Sue is awesome and will make sure you have everything you need. Cabins are pretty typical up north lake rentals but Sue makes sure they are clean and maintained. The bar is open limited hrs. and days yet it is a very popular and energetic place. The happy hour rocks. I came in the bar not knowing anyone and left with many new friends.

Majestic place full of wildlife . Chipmunks , deer , beaver , muskrat , Eagles and oh yeah FISH . Very clean and the owner Sue great people and very warm friendly smile.. ⭐ Also best bar in the lake ⭐Thursday.-Saturday .. must stop by boat , ate, or car see you there
